Soochipara Waterfalls
The Soochipara Waterfall is also known as the Sentinel Rock Waterfall. It is the most popular waterfall in Wayanad, is located about 23 kms from Kalpetta. At a distance of 13 km from Meppadi, 24 km from Kalpetta & 46 km from Sulthan Bathery, Soochipara Waterfall is a beautiful waterfall situated in Vellarimala mountain range of Wayanad, among the popular tourist places in Kerala. It is one of the most visited tourist places to visit in Wayanad and is among prime place to visit on a Wayanad Trip. The waterfalls down from a height of 200 ft and forms a pool beneath it where the visitors can swim and bath. This altogether makes Soochipara and excellent location for rock climbing and trekking.
Monsoon is recommended to be the best time to visit Soochipara waterfalls.
Kanthanpara Waterfalls
Kanthanpara waterfalls are twenty-two kilometres away from Kalpetta and are located near to Soochipara Waterfalls. The waterfall is small and beautiful and a short walk away from the street. So it is great for picnics, family tours and romantic outings.
Meenmutty Waterfalls
This three-tiered waterfall is located at 29 km from Kalpetta at a height of 300m. Meenmutty waterfall is the biggest waterfalls in Wayanad and is the second largest waterfall in Kerala. It is one of the topmost attractions in Wayanad. The name ‘Meenmutty’ derived from the concept that the fishes are blocked here. ‘Meen’ means ‘fish’ and ‘Mutty’ means ‘blocked’ and thus ‘Meenmutty’.
The most interesting thing about reaching Meenmutty is that we would have to trek around 2 kms distance through the forest to reach the waterfall. And once you reach the waterfalls, it will be the most mesmerizing sight.
It is considered to be the most dangerous spot in Wayanad and it is not a good idea to travel Meenmutty during monsoon. October to May is recommended to be the best time to visit Meenmutty.
Chethalayam Waterfalls
Chethalayam waterfall is near to Muthanga Sanctuary, about 12 km from Bathery. The cascade is about 4 kms into the jungle, so permission is mandatory to visit there. Usually, a forest officer accompanies since elephants share the trek path now and then. The waterfall is small, hidden behind trees and seen only from the very near. The waterfall is seasonal. Water dries up as summer sets in.
